For the first course of study in the "Sports Business Academy" (SPOAC) at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of management and SPONSORS, SPONSORS is awarding three scholarships with a combined value of EUR 50,000. Interested students have until April 30 to apply for the scholarships. Scholarship recipients will be announced in mid-May and can commence their studies in September.
The one-year "Advanced Executive Program in Sports Business" for professionals consists of ten consecutive modules devoted to specific topics in sports business and is characterized by the practical "case method", along with prominent guest lecturers. Students will be required to fulfil a total of 30 days of attendance at the WHU Campus in Düsseldorf.
Students completing the program will earn 15 ECTS credits that can be used in partial fulfilment of the requirements of an MBA from WHU ("WHU Part-Time MBA Sports Business Track"). SPOAC graduates also become part of the SPONSORS and WHU network, which offers more than 10,000 contacts to executives in and around the sports sector. In addition to SPOAC partners such as DFL, DFB, DOSB and WWP, as well as members of the Advisory Board including Christian Seifert (DFL), Michael Vesper (DOSB), Helmut Sandrock (DFB) and Philipp Radel (WWP), commitments have already been received from guest lecturers such as Oliver Bierhoff (DFB), Michael Ilgner (Dt. Sporthilfe) and Hans-Joachim Watzke (Borussia Dortmund).
SPONSORS will grant a full scholarship worth EUR 25,000 as well as two half scholarships valued at EUR 12,500 apiece. At the qualification phase, applicants are called upon to submit their résumés along with an essay on one of three specified topics. All of the applications submitted will then be reviewed by the SPONSORS Awards Commission, which will ultimately present the scholarships to the best applicants.
